1. Akeredolu’s SSG, Abegunde Resigns Appointment
The administration of Governor Rotimi Akeredolu has suffered another major blow as the Secretary to the Ondo State Government, Mr. Ifedayo Abegunde, has resigned his appointment.
Naija News understands that the SSG tendered his resignation letter on Monday morning.
He however refused to give any reason for quitting the administration of Governor Akeredolu.
2. Disregard Trending WASSCE Timetable, WAEC Warns
Nigerians have been advised by the West African Examination Council to disregard the timetable for the 2020/2021 Senior Secondary School Examination currently trending online.
The Head of Public Affairs, WAEC, Nigeria, Mr Demianus Ojijeogu in a statement on Sunday that the timetable circulating was not from the examination body.
3. President Jonathan Govt Made Some Mistakes – Reno Omokri Admits
Reno Omokri, an aide to former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, has admitted that the previous administration made some mistakes.
Speaking while appearing on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics, Omokri stated that things have become worse in the Muhammadu Buhari-led administration.
4. APC Speaks On Suspending Ex-Acting National Chairman Hillard Eta
The All Progressives Congress (APC) Cross River chapter has denied the suspension of the immediate past National Vice Chairman South-South Ntufam Hillard Eta.
The APC was reacting to a letter purportedly signed by one Chief Francis Ekpenyong stating that the former national vice-chairman of the party has been suspended.
5. Fidau: Ajimobi’s Family Was Aware Of My Presence At Their Residence – Olaniyan
The Deputy of Governor of Oyo State, Rauf Olaniyan, has reacted to the incident that saw him hindered from accessing the residence of the former Governor of the state, Abiola Ajimobi.
Olaniyan on Sunday noted that the family of the late Governor was aware of his presence at their Ibadan residence to attend the eighth-day Fidau of their late father.
6. NCDC Reports 544 Cases Of Coronavirus In Nigeria, Breakdown Of Cases By State
The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has reported fresh 544 cases of Coronavirus in Nigeria.
Naija News reports that the NCDC confirmed the new 544 cases of Coronavirus in Nigeria in a series of tweets on the micro-blogging site, Twitter on Sunday evening, July 5.
7. Buhari Reacts As Boko Haram Takes Down UN Helicopter
President Muhammadu Buhari has condemned the attack on a United Nations’ aide helicopter in the Northeast by Boko Haram terrorists.
In a statement by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, Buhari described the attack as a “rearguard action” of members of the sect who he said have been under pressure from the military.
8. Kogi: PDP Rejects Appeal Court Verdict, Heads To Supreme Court
The Peoples Democratic Party on Sunday rejected the ruling of the Court of Appeal which upheld the election of Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State.
The main opposition party while reacting to the verdict expressed shock that the court did not pay attention to what its referred to as “hard evidence” which showed that the PDP candidate, Musa Wada scored the highest valid votes in the Governorship election held on November 16th, 2019.
9. Covid-19 In Ghana: President Nana Akufo-Addo Quarantined
As a precautionary measure, the President of Ghana Nana Akufo-Addo has decided to isolate himself for 14 days following the appearance of at least one case of Covid-19 infection in his entourage.
This Sunday, July 05, 2020, a press release from the Ministry of Information, Ghana announced that Akufo Addo is in quarantine. A preventive decision that meets compliance with the COVID-19 protocol. Note that the Head of State has tested negative for the coronavirus.
