Tuesday, the 20th of November has been declared as public holiday by the federal government to celebrate the Eid-El Maulud.
The Minister of Interior, Lt Gen (rtd) Abdulrahman Dambazau, made the announcement on behalf of the federal government, calling on Muslim faithfuls to observe and uphold the virtues of piety, charity, tolerance and peace as taught by Prophet Muhammed.
Dambazau, in the statement signed by the permanent secretary, Dr. M.B Umar, wished the Muslim faithful and Nigerians as a whole, a peaceful celebration.
He assured that “the Federal Government remains committed to the unity of the country and as such, will put adequate structures on ground towards ensuring that the forthcoming general elections are credible, free and fair.”
