Military Reacts To US Warning On Al-Qaeda Invading Nigeria

The Defence Headquarters has reacted to the warning issued by the United States of America over the invasion of the Al-Qaeda into Nigeria.

The Defence Headquarters on Thursday described the warning about the insurgent’s invasion into the West African region as a call to sustain onslaught against Boko Haram Terrorists and Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP).

The Coordinator, Defence Media Operation, Maj Gen John Enenche, in a statement released on Thursday noted that it is not the first time the US will issue such warning.

Naija News had earlier reported that the United States Africa Command (US AFRICOM) warned that the Islamic State (ISIS) and Al-Qaeda terrorist groups are gradually taking over the West African Region after losing ground in Syria, Iraq, etc.

The Commander of the US Special Operations Command, Africa, Dagvin Anderson, further stated that the terrorist group are invading the country through North-Western Nigeria.

But Enenche said: “For me, this is not the first time they are raising such an alarm, the alarm is as old as maybe five or ten years ago and the armed forces and the country is conscious of it.”

“When the conflict in Libya has declared officially that it ended, which did not end what happened? It was we, our NIA, state service and all that raised the information that these people are moving.”

“Have we not captured foreigners among the people that have been terrorizing us in this country?”

“So it is just like a call to keep doing what you are doing, so the general public should know that the security agencies are on top of that one.”
