Tinubu Kano Colloquium Is A Strategy For 2023 – PDP Chieftain

I0 Things You Didn’t Know About Bola Tinubu

A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kano, Comrade Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo has described the choice of Kano State for Tinubu’s 12th Colloquium as a political move.

Gwarzo, who is one of the leaders of the Kwankwasiyya Movement and the 2019 deputy governorship candidate of the PDP said it is part of strategies for the 2023 presidential election.

It will be recalled as earlier reported by Naija News that Bola Ahmed Tinubu revealed that he decided to use Kano State as the venue for his 12th colloquium and 69th birthday to prove to Nigerians that the Yoruba and Fulani people are united.

The former Lagos governor also made a veiled reference to the marriage of the daughter of Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje; to the son of the late ex-Oyo State Governor, Abiola Ajimobi, which took place in Kano in 2018.

But reacting, Comrade Gwarzo described the event as a pure political meeting which is entirely about Tinubu’s 2023 presidential ambition.

He disagreed with Tinubu that holding the colloquium in Kano state is about preaching Nigeria’s oneness and unity.

“It (colloquium in Kano) has nothing to do with national cohesion and unity. When people were asked to stand up to be counted, he wasn’t there. So many things happened recently with the most recent one being the barbaric violence that erupted in Shasa, Ibadan. Being a political leader of the South West, at least as far as APC is concerned, Tinubu should have asked for restraint and seen to be active in trying to quell the looming crisis,” he said.

He added that as someone who has the ears of the federal government and the ruling APC, Tinubu should have used his position and the opportunity to charge the leaders to respond to the yearnings of the people.

“As someone who is aspiring to be president of this country, Tinubu should have risen to that occasion and talked positively. You don’t just come and hold your colloquium here (Kano) and think that will be a panacea for national unity.

“As far as I am concerned, it is purely a political move, more about 2023. The APC government has failed and Tinubu is not saying anything. So many lives are being lost on a daily basis, not only in the South West,” he added.

Meanwhile, former National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Alhaji Abubakar Baraje, has asked the opposition members to unite in order to reclaim Kwara State in the 2023 general elections.

He made this on Monday in Ilorin, at his inauguration as the Chairman of the state’s PDP Reconciliation and Engagement Committee.

Baraje noted that the PDP has learned a lesson in its defeat at the 2019 governorship election in the state, urging all PDP members in the state to learn from their mistakes.

The PDP stalwart asserted that all members of the party in the state including former Senate President Bukola Saraki had been taught a greater lesson by the loss.
