The Governor of Gombe State, Inuwa Yahaya, has called on Governors in the south, and residents of the region to be patients with herders.
Yahaya stated this while speaking with newsmen on Tuesday shortly after declaring open the statewide vaccination campaign against Contagious Bovine Pleuro-pneumonia (CBPP) in cattle and Pestes Des Petits Ruminants (PPR) in sheep and goats, held at Gadam, Kwami Local Government Area.
He further stated that not all crimes in the region were carried out by herders, he added that herdsmen are law-abiding they should be allowed to coexist in peace.
“It a problem people encounter especially our herders in the South, which is usually attached to criminal activities of some elements which are not necessarily the cattle rearers and herders. I urge them to stay in peace and live in peace wherever they are.”
“I urge government down south to be patient and live with the herders especially where they are law-abiding and living in peace with residents of those places.”
“We need to live in peace throughout the country, so that progress will prevail so that the economy will improve especially the livelihood of Nigerians.”
In another development, the Oyo State Police Command has released the three members of the Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC) arrested and detained over the arrest of suspected Fulani warlord, Iskilu Wakili.
Naija News reports that the OPC members named Dauda Kazeem, Awodele Adedigba, and Ramon Hassan were released on bail following the intervention of the state governor, Seyi Makinde, and the Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yorubaland, Gani Adams.
