President Muhammadu Buhari in his 2020 Christmas message to Nigerians has reiterated the commitment of his administration to the security of lives and property of residents and citizens of the country.

Buhari in his statement on Thursday, urged Nigerians to embrace the lessons of joy, peace, hope, love, goodwill, and salvation offered by the joyous occasion of the commemoration of the birth of Jesus Christ.

2. IGP Issues Fresh Orders, Bans Flaunting Of Wealth On Social Media By Nigerians

The Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu on Thursday, reeled out fresh instructions and security measures targeted at peaceful Christmas and new year celebrations by Nigerians.

The IGP in the statement where he made the instructions public, among other things said citizens of the country should not flaunt personal wealth on social media.

3. Olisa Metuh Granted Bail, Leaves Kuje Prison

A former National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Olisa Metuh, was on Thursday released from Kuje custodial centre, Abuja.

The spokesman, Federal Capital Territory Command of the Nigeria Correctional Service, Humphrey Chukwuedo, confirmed the development.

4. APC Wouldn’t Have Won 2015/2019 Elections Without Tinubu – Bakare

The General Overseer of Citadel Global Community Church, Pastor Tunde Bakare, has praised the impact of the national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu, on Nigeria politics.

Speaking at the church’s recently unveiled Citadel in Lagos, Pastor Bakare insisted that the APC would not have won the 2015 and 2019 presidential election without the political sagacity of Tinubu.

5. Buhari Govt Sets Up Committee To Address Hunger And Malnutrition In Nigeria

President Muhammadu Buhari led government has announced the inauguration of an ad-hoc Technical Advisory Group to support the implementation of a 5-year National Multi-Sectoral Plan of Action on Nutrition (NMPAN).

The development was made known in a statement on Thursday, December 24 by Laolu Akande, Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to Vice President, Prof Yemi Osinbajo, SAN.

6. NANS Warns ASUU Against Embarking On Another Strike

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has warned the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) against resuming its just suspended strike.

Naija News recalls that ASUU on Wednesday suspended its 10-month old strike after reaching an agreement with the federal government.

But the President of ASUU, Professor Biodun Ogunyemi, warned that if the government fails to fulfill its promises the union would resume the strike without notice.

Speaking to The Punch, on Thursday, NANS President, Sunday Asefon described the threat by ASUU as embarrassing and ridiculous.

7. Covid-19: FG Announces Fresh Guidelines For UK, South Africa Flights And Passengers

Passengers travelling into Nigeria from the UK and South Africa will need to fulfil certain fresh COVID-19 requirements as from 28th December, the federal government has announced.

The National Coordinator of the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19, Dr Sani Aliyu announced on Thursday in Abuja that effective from December 28, 2020, apart from other general international travel requirements, passengers from these two countries are required to familiarize themselves with the new requirements.

8. 7 Nigerian Army Special Forces Personnel Killed As Troops Arrest 66 Suspected Bandits

The commander of the Nigerian Army Four Special Forces Command, Major General Moundhey Gadzama Ali on Wednesday revealed that several bandits and criminals have been arrested by troops during recent operations.

The top army commander made the revelation when he paraded sixty-six (66) suspected bandits and criminals at the command’s headquarters at Doma Local Government Area of Nasarawa State on Wednesday.

9. Gov. Sanwo-Olu Recovers From COVID-19

The Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has recovered from COVID-19.

The development was disclosed by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Gboyega Akosile, on Thursday afternoon.
