2023: Oshiomhole, Tinubu Ousted, Buhari’s Allies Take Over APC

What Buhari Has Done To Tinubu's 2023 Presidential Ambition - Bamgbose

The recent dissolution of All Progressives Congress (APC), leadership across the nation is an indication that the battle for the 2023 elections would be fierce.

This Day reports that decision to dissolve the former executive committees was to sweep off the remaining part of the old structure. This will enable the enthroning of a new order.

The ousted state, local government and constituency leaders are with Adams Oshiomhole, who is also an ally of Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Former Lagos governor, Tinubu is not a member of the National Executive Council (NEC), and therefore has no influence on the party’s decision.

It is a well-known fact that the APC is a coalition of former Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), the Congress of Progressive Change (CPC), All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP) as well as some Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) decampees. Now the CPC is trying to dominate the rest of the movement.

Gov. Mai Mala Buni and AGF Abubakar Malami, who are deciding how to run in the APC, have all come out of the old CPC.

Oshiomhole Camp and its loyalists are from the defunct ACN led by Bola Tinubu have withdrawn from the list and the final decision taken by the party at the NEC meeting.

President Muhammadu Buhari and his party, the CPC, and the governors have gained more power in the party, as Bola Tinubu’s thread unravels before 2023.

The struggle about who becomes the presidential candidate of the APC would be determined by the President and the governors, who tilt towards the CPC as the new controlling power base.
