Biafra: Ohanaeze Reveals Only One Condition Buhari Will Grant Nnamdi Kanu Pardon

Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council (OYC) has stated that it can help the wanted leader of the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, get a presidential pardon.

Ohanaeze said “there’s only one way out for Kanu, OYC is ready to help him get Presidential Pardon from Federal Government especially with the existing cordial relationships between Southeast Governors and President Muhammadu Buhari.

“But he should show remorseful repentance in actions and apologize to Southeast governors and leaders in private or public.”

Recall that the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital, had fixed January 27, 2021, for the continuation of the trial of the leader of the proscribed IPOB.

Kanu’s trial was earlier fixed for hearing yesterday, November 26 but when it was called, both Kanu and his counsel, Ifeanyi Ejiofor were absent in court.

Mr E. Ejiofor, a lawyer in a sister case, informed the court that the lawyer of the IPOB leader had asked him to draw the attention of the court to a letter he wrote explaining why he was absent in court.

Kanu’s lawyer in the letter explained that he got the information for the new date of November 26 on November 25, adding that he had traveled out of Abuja, and would not be able to travel back immediately to attend court because of the short notice.

But Ohanaeze in a statement said the commencement of Kanu’s trial is the beginning of his repatriation process by the Federal Government.

OYC’s statement was signed by Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro, President General; Comrade Obinna Achionye, Deputy President General and Mazi Okwu Nnabuike, Secretary-General.

The OYC stated that Igbo leaders were no longer interested in helping the pro-Biafra activist, adding that it sympathizes with Senator Enyinnayah Abaribe and other sureties of Kanu.

“There is the possibility they might face the battle axe of the law, the same situation that befell Senator Ali Ndume, if they fail to produce Nnamdi Kanu in person before the court,” the group said.

The OYC pointed out that Nnamdi Kanu’s continuous threats against Southeast Governors, Igbo leaders and issuance of standing orders for them to be attacked in foreign lands confirms that he has squandered goodwill.
