Good day Nigeria, welcome to Naija News coverage of major stories across Nigeria today, Wednesday, October 28.
Nigeria is just coming out of a week that could best be described as her most difficult and sad week for its citizens since the beginning of the year 2020, no thanks to the peaceful #EndSARS protests conducted by her citizens seeking an end to police brutality in the country, which turned violence nationwide especially at the Lekki toll gate area of Lagos, Nigeria’s commercial city where men in army uniform were sighted shooting at unarmed protesters.
The attack in its wake left some dead and many injured, with a Nigerian disc jockey, popularly known as DJ Switch claiming that she and other witnesses at the Lekki toll gate counted at least 15 corpses, a claim which has been countered by Lagos State governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, who insisted that only two people died from the Lekki incident which has since been described as a massacre by some Nigerians with the hashtag; #LekkiMassacre trending on the micro-blogging site, Twitter, since October 20 when the ugly scene occurred.
Since the attack on peaceful protesters at Lekki toll gate, there have been calls by Nigerians who are demanding to know “who ordered the shooting at Lekki toll gate” of peaceful #EndSARS protesters who were singing the nation’s National Anthem.
However, in our bid to keep you updated on the go amid the unrest created by the #EndSARS protests, Naija News has created a live situation report feed, where our readers can get to read the major stories across the country today without stress.
