1. Buhari Appoints 11 Judges For FCT High Court, 3 CCB Members
President Muhammadu Buhari has sent nominees’ list of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court Judges to the Nigerian Senate for confirmation.
Naija News reports that the President who sent the list on Tuesday also asked the Senate to confirm three members of the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB), a statement by Ezrel Tabiowo, Special Assistant (Press) to President of the Senate said.
2. Ibrahim Magu Suspended As EFCC Chairman
The presidency has suspended Ibrahim Magu as the acting chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
It will be recalled Magu had been facing a presidential panel since Monday over allegations of corruption.
3. House Of Assembly Serves Deputy Governor Impeachment Notice
Lawmakers of the Ondo State House of Assembly on Tuesday, served an impeachment notice on the State Deputy Governor, Agboola Ajayi.
Naija News understands 14 of the 26 members of the Assembly signed the notice on Tuesday, while nine voted against the decision.
4. Ngige Apologises To NASS Over Keyamo’s Outburst
Dr Chris Ngige, the Minister of Employment Labour and Productivity, has pleaded with the National Assembly over its recent clash with the Minister of State for Labour, Festus Keyamo (SAN).
Naija News recalls that Festus Keyamo had clashed with members of the Joint Committee of the National Assembly over the modalities for implementing the Special Public Works programme of the Federal Government meant to hire 774,000 Nigerians.
5. DSS Appeals Judgement On Hanan Buhari SIM Card Case
The Department of State Services (DSS), has filed an appeal against the N10m ruling in the case involving the purchase of a SIM card previously used by President Muhammadu Buhari’s daughter, Hanan Buhari.
Recall that Justice Nnamdi Dimgba of the Federal High Court in May ordered the DSS to pay the man who purchased the sim card, Anthony Okolie, the sum of 10 million nairas.
6. Ondo: I Have No Plan To Join PDP – Former SSG
The former Secretary to the Ondo State Government, Sunday Abegunde, on Tuesday, noted that he has no plan to join the Peoples Democratic Party ahead of the governorship election in the state.
Recall that Abegunde on Monday resigned his appointment, alleging that the state Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, maltreated him during the three and half years he served under his government.
7. COVID-19: Churches Continued Closure Unacceptable – CAN
Rev Samson Ayokunle, the President of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), has described as unacceptable and unjustifiable the continued closure of churches due to coronavirus (COVID-19).
In a statement on Tuesday by his spokesperson, Bayo Oladeji, Rev Ayokunle asked state governments to reopen churches.
8. Chief Of Staff To Kwara State Governor, Adisa Logun Dies Of COVID-19
Adisa Logun, the Chief of Staff to Governor Abdlrahamn Abdulrazaq of Kwara State is dead.
Naija News learnt that the late Chief of Staff died Tuesday evening after he was rushed to the hospital from his GRA home in Ilorin when he was having serious health complications.
9. 22 Imo Lawmakers Sign To Remove Speaker
The speaker Imo State house of assembly, Dr Chiji Collins has been placed on the hot seat as twenty-two lawmakers have signed an agreement to impeach him.
According to a report revealed by a top-flight online news platform, the impeachment process will begin immediately when the lawmaker reconvene after the Assembly Complex was shut two weeks ago over COVID-19 scare.
10. Senate Passes Sexual Harassment Bill
The Nigerian Senate has passed a bill seeking to stop sexual abuse of female students in the nation’s tertiary institutions.
Naija News reports that the Sexual Harassment Bill which was read the third time and passed on Tuesday was a sequel to the consideration of the report of the Committee on Judiciary, Human Rights and Legal Matters presented by the Chairman and Senator representing Ekiti Central on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Opeyemi Bamidele.
