The World Health Organization (WHO) has released a list of countries with the highest coronavirus (COVID-19) death cases in Africa.
In the past 24 hours, Africa COVID-19 cases have risen to 461,203, 11,052 deaths recorded and 222,000 recoveries.
Egypt has recorded the highest number of deaths with 3,280, followed by South Africa with 3,026 fatalities and Algeria with 946 deaths.
Africa’s most populous country, Nigeria, has recorded 634 reported deaths.
Other countries are Sudan (608 deaths), Cameroon (313 deaths), Morocco (232 deaths), DR Congo (181 deaths), Kenya (159 deaths), Mauritania (129 deaths), Senegal (129 deaths), Mali (118 deaths) and Ghana (117 deaths).
Naija News reports that the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) on Saturday reported fresh 603 cases of Coronavirus in Nigeria.
According to the NCDC, of the four hundred and fifty-four new coronavirus cases recorded on Saturday evening, 135 were recorded in Lagos, Nigeria’s commercial city, Edo-87 FCT-73 Rivers-67 Delta-62 Ogun-47 Kaduna-20 Plateau-19 Osun-17 Ondo-16 Enugu-15 Oyo-15 Borno-13 Niger-6 Nasarawa-4 Kebbi-3 Kano-2 Sokoto-1 Abia-1, southeast Nigeria.
The NCDC tweeted: “603 new cases of #COVID19Nigeria; Lagos-135 Edo-87 FCT-73 Rivers-67 Delta-62 Ogun-47 Kaduna-20 Plateau-19 Osun-17 Ondo-16 Enugu-15 Oyo-15 Borno-13 Niger-6 Nasarawa-4 Kebbi-3 Kano-2 Sokoto-1 Abia-1 28,167 confirmed 11,462 discharged 634 deaths,” the tweet added.
