Court Nullifies Suit Barring Obaseki From Edo PDP Primary

The Federal High Court sitting in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital, has given its final verdict on the suit seeking to stop Godwin Obaseki, the Edo State Governor, from contesting the governorship primary election of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Naija News reports that the presiding judge, Justice Emmanuel Obile granted the application of moves by the parties to the suit to settle the matter outside the court and urged the judge to stand down the proceedings for four hours.

Giving his final judgement on the suit, Justice Obile, struck out the suit, after the plaintiff’s lead counsel, D. C. Denwigwe (SAN), withdrew the suit on the grounds that all parties had settled amicably.

Justice Obile commended the parties for settling out of court, adding that it was the proper thing to do.

Mr. Kenneth Imasuagbon, a Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, governorship aspirant in Edo State has rubbished claims that he has decided to step down for Edo state Governor, Godwin Obaseki.

The statement reads: “The governor knows that I’m popular with the delegates, and he is doing everything possible to change this.

“For the sake of emphasis, I have not and will not consider accepting anything to step down from the race for the PDP ticket.

“I also understand that they are trying to manipulate the delegates’ list in their favour. I want to warn that if they try it, we will do everything possible to resist it, we shall also meet in court.”

Edo 2020: Omoregie Steps Down For Obaseki
