NCDC Confirms 284 New Cases Of Coronavirus

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC, on Wednesday night confirmed two hundred and eighty-four new cases of Coronavirus in Nigeria.

The agency in a post on their official Twitter account confirmed the new cases bringing the total number of confirmed cases in Nigeria to 6677.

Meanwhile, 1840 patients have been discharged, while 200 deaths have been recorded in the country.

Lagos Discharges 17 More COVID-19 Patients, Bringing Total To 649

The Lagos State government on Wednesday announced it has discharged 17 more COVID-19 patients who have recovered from the virus.

According to a post on the Twitter page of the Lagos State Ministry of Health, the patients were discharged after testing negative twice to the coronavirus infection.

Naija News understands those discharged include six females and eleven males. The latest discharge brings the total number of recoveries from the virus in Lagos State to 649.

Boss Mustapha, Secretary to the Government of the Federation has explained that the President Muhammadu Buhari’s led administration’s decision to extend the eased lockdown for another two weeks is to try and contain the spread of COVID-19 before the economy is fully reopened

Mustapha, who doubles as the chairman of the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19, made this known during the daily media briefing yesterday.

The first part of the eased lockdown had expired on Monday, May 18.

It was then extended by President Muhammadu Buhari by another two weeks until June 1.

Mustapha asked schools, religious centres, offices and business to use the opportunity to plan how to operate in COVID-19 era.

According to Mustapha, the decision to reopen the economy slowly, is based on “current experiences from different countries and expert advice”.
