TVC Laments Impact Of Attack On Its Properties, Reveals Next Line Of Action

The management of Television Continental (TVC) has lamented the impact of the recent violent attack on its properties and equipment and how it has affected their operations.

The station’s chief executive officer, Mr. Andrew Hanlon explained that the auditorium which housed three main studios, three control rooms, three master control rooms, and a central transmission laboratory said to have been equipped with modern communication gadgets worth millions of dollars was razed down during the attack.

It will be recalled that some hoodlums on Wednesday, 21st October, attacked the premises of TVC located in Ikosi, Ketu Lagos State, destroying many company properties as well as private properties found on the premises at the time of the attack.

Shedding more light on the attack and its impact on its activities, the station’s CEO, Hanlon explained on Thursday when he hosted the Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu that the main building which served as the hub of its transmission was completely burnt down and currently, they have been making do with temporary set ups.

He further noted as he conducted the Governor round the scene of the incident that private properties were not spared in the arson and vandalization that took place.

Hanlon added that the livelihood of both direct and indirect members of staff has been threatened by the attack but the management was first looking at how to ensure the welfare of all direct employees is taken care of.

The CEO was however grateful that no life was lost in the rather unfortunate incident.

He said, “After the rioters invaded our premises and set the place on fire, some buildings in the premises survived. But the main transmission building was completely destroyed and it was the hub of our operations. The rioters cast fear and terror in the hearts of our employees when they broke in last week’s Wednesday morning.

“People’s hard work and huge investment that went down into the TV station were destroyed in a period of about an hour. The incident was really traumatising for all of us. The rioters left immense devastation. The entire interior of the building was destroyed. This is all that is left of our bubbling building, which was a centrepiece. Thankfully, no member of staff died in the incident.”

Naija News understands that no fewer than 250 TVC staff members and other indirect employees of the organization were affected by the attack.
