2. 2023: Former Zamfara Governor, Yerima Joins Presidential Race
A former governor of Zamfara State, Senator Ahmad Sani Yerima has declared he would be standing for election as Nigeria’s president come 2023.
Yerima, who was also a senator between 2007 and 2015 after completing his tenure as governor, said he is declaring interest in response to calls from various political groups across the country for him to take up the challenge.

Nigeria’s Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo on Monday, paid a one-day official visit to Kano State to commission some major infrastructure projects.

5. Supreme Court Takes Decision On Governorship Appeals In Six States
The Supreme Court on Monday, adjourned hearing in cases involving governorship election result disputes in six states of the federation.
The affected states are Imo, Bauchi, Sokoto, Kano, Plateau and Benue States.

President Muhammadu Buhari has on Monday, signed the finance bill that was passed by the Senate and House of Reps in 2019.

7. Customs Shortlist 162,000 For Recruitment Aptitude Test
The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has sent out invitations for aptitude test to 162,399 applicants that applied for vacant job positions in the service.
It is understood that the 162,399 are those who made it to the next stage of the recruitment process out of a total 828,333 that applied last year for job openings in the service.
8. Itse Sagay Supports Operation Amotekun As Police Issue Warning To Stakeholders
The Nigerian police force has sent a strong message to all personnel of the South-West Stakeholders Security Group working with the Western Nigeria Security Outfit codenamed Operation Amotekun (leopard), against using unlicensed firearms.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer in Ogun State, Abimbola Oyeyemi, also warned that any civilian member of the Operation Amotekun found guilty of using unlicensed firearms would be arrested.
9. Babangida Speaks On Effect Of Civil War On Nigeria
General Ibrahim Babangida (rtd), the former Military President of Nigeria, has revealed that the plan to reconcile Nigerians after the civil war has had a limited impact on the country.
Babangida during an interview on Channels TV stated that the plan was not effective because authorities were not consistent in the drive for reconciliation.
10. Queen Accepts Harry And Meghan’s Decision To Live In Canada
Queen Elizabeth II has agreed to grant more independence to Harry and Meghan and let them live in Canada for remaining part of the year, while firmly affirming their membership of the royal family.
