I’m Not Afraid Of Death – Ex-President Obasanjo

Obasanjo Calls For Better Leadership In Africa

Former President of Nigeria, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo has disclosed that one of his greatest concerns in life is to build true leaders for Africa.

The former president who lamented that the world lacks true leaders, called on youths to rise up and make Nigeria a great nation and Africa a great continent.

While speaking on Tuesday at a two-day interactive session of the Presidential Youth Mentorship Retreat, held at the Youth Development Centre, Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library, Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, Chief Obasanjo stated that at his age, he wasn’t afraid to die.

He further expressed appreciation to God for the opportunity to serve as military head of state and as democratically-elected president of Nigeria.

Obasanjo noted the need for youths across the African region to get mentorship from past leaders.

“I’m not afraid of death at my age, God has favoured me and I appreciate God’s blessings on me over these years.

”My concern over the years is to build leaders of Africa. My greatest concern is tomorrow and that tomorrow begins today.

“The world today is in crisis; I believed that youths need interaction from leaders and learning from them. I want to be inspired at the end of this programme.

“I want you to identify yourself and use your identity to achieve service to God and humanity,” he told the youths.
