1. FEC Gives Finance Minister Date To Effect Payment Of New Minimum Wage

The Minister of Finance, Zainab Ahmed, has been directed by the Federal Executive Council (FEC) to effect payment of the new minimum wage on or before 31st December 2019.

Naija News reports that the Minister of Labour, Chris Ngige, disclosed this at the end of the FEC meeting chaired by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo at the Presidential Villa Abuja, Nigeria’s capital.

2. Lawan Reveals Date National Assembly Will Pass 2020 Budget

Senate President Ahmed Lawan has revealed that the National Assembly will pass the 2020 Appropriation Bill of N10.33 trillion in December, 2019.

Lawan, who is the Chairman of the National Assembly, made this known at the two-day Joint National Budget Hearing on the 2020 Appropriation Bill on Wednesday.

3. Federal High Court Judge Kidnapped In Akure

A Federal High Court Judge, Justice Abdul Dogo, has been kidnapped in Akure.

Naija News understands Justice Dogo was abducted on Tuesday by unknown gunmen while he was returning to Akure from Abuja.

4. FG To Demolish Old Lagos Airport Terminal

Hadi Sirika, Minister of Aviation has disclosed plans of the federal government to demolish and rebuild the old Lagos Airport terminal/

Naija News understands that the Minister during the budget defence of his Ministry at the House of Representatives Committee on Aviation made this known while responding to questions from lawmakers on the state of the airport.

5. FEC Approves Name Change For Communications Ministry

The Federal Executive Council (FEC) on Wednesday approved the change of name for the Ministry of Communications.

This was made known in a post on Twitter by the Personal Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on New Media, Bashir Ahmad.

6. Major Gridlock On Otedola Bridge After Multiple Accidents

The movement of vehicles on the Otedola Bridge inward Berger Lagos State on Wednesday morning was very difficult due to the series of accidents caused by up to 10 vehicles and causing traffic on the Lagos – Ibadan expressway.

The development was confirmed by the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA).

7. Rivers: Serial Killer, West Pleads Guilty To Murdering Nine Women

Gracious David West, the serial killer, on Tuesday, pleaded guilty at the Rivers State High Court to killing nine women in different hotels.

West was arraigned before Justice Adolphus Enebeli on Tuesday, after he appeared on Monday without a lawyer representing him.

8. Boko Haram: Nigerian Army Goes Spiritual

The Nigerian Army has adopted the use of spiritual warfare as part of efforts to totally overcome the Boko Haram terrorists and other forms of insurgency in the country.

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai made the disclosure at the 2019 Chaplains annual Training Conference and Retreat on Tuesday in Sokoto where he was represented by Brig.-Gen. Timothy Olowomeye, the Director Civil Military Affairs.

9. Nigeria Police To Unveil New Strategy To Fight Crime In The Country

 

As part of efforts at dissecting the dynamics of crime and forging strong networks toward tackling prevalent and emerging crimes in the country, the Inspector-General of Police, IGP M.A Adamu, NPM, mni is organizing a 3-Day Conference and Retreat for Strategic Officers of the Nigeria Police Force.
