Nigeria’s Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning, Mrs. Zainab Ahmed, has restated her commitment to improve the revenue of the nation.
Ahmed revealed the commitment of the federal government while debunking an alleged erroneous believe that Nigeria is facing a debt crisis. She explained that Nigeria’s debt profile is still within a reasonable limit.
Naija News learnt that Ahmed made the revelation at the opening ceremony of the 2020 national budget public hearing organized by the Joint Senate and House of Representatives’ Committees on Appropriation.
According to Ahmed, Nigeria is contending with what could rather be termed as a revenue generating problem and not a debt crisis.
She also said that given the low revenue to GDP ratio currently at 8 percent in Nigeria, the country must optimise revenue generation.
