The former pension Reform Task Team (PRTT) chairman, Abdul-Rasheed Maina has had his alleged jailbreak plans scuttled by the EFCC.
Naija News learnt that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) got an intelligence report that some of its staff had planned with a woman, Zainab Abbas to smuggle Maina out of the anti-graft’s agencies custody.
Speaking on the alleged custody break out plan, an official of the agency that spoke with the Nation Newspaper said that the intelligence report was received about the plot last week Thursday as seven operatives of the agency who were on duty when the plot was supposed to take off were arrested, questioned and detained. They are being investigated for suspected complicity.
The source also revealed that Zainab Abbas was smuggled into the visitors’ area to meet with Maina. She was with her telephone. She was alleged to be making efforts to procure some purported military personnel to execute the plan to get Maina out in a commando-style.
Meanwhile as earlier reported by Naija News, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) will on Friday arraign Abdulrasheed Maina, before Justice Okon Abang of the Federal High Court in Abuja.
Naija News understands that the ex-pension boss and his 20-year-old son, Faisal, will be arraigned for various offences
It was learnt that the anti-graft agency filed separate set of charges against Maina and his son.
