Senate Resumes Ministerial Screening

The screening of ministerial nominees sent to the National Assembly by President Muhammadu Buhari has continued on Monday, 29th July.

Naija News recalls the Senate began the screening of the 43 ministerial nominees sent in by the President on Wednesday.

So far, 31 nominees have been screened and 12 nominees are still awaiting their turn.

11:20 AM: First to be screened as the senators resume screening of nominees is the former minister of works, power, and housing, Babatunde Raji Fashola (Lagos State).

As the man in charge of three key ministries, he is faced with a barrage of questions from the lawmakers.

After about one hour of grilling, he is allowed to take a bow and exit the chambers.

12:25 PM: Next up before the Senators is Mohammed Mahmood (Kaduna State).

As one who has a legislative background, he is allowed to take a bow and go without answering any question.

12:45 PM: Standing before the Senators currently is Gbemisola Saraki from Kwara State. She is currently addressing the chamber.

Being a former Senator and also a female nominee, in line with the concession granted by the lawmakers, she is allowed to take a bow and go.

12:54 PM: Senate moves into plenary to report progress and wich the lawmakers are expected to proceed on a one-hour break and resume by 2pm.

So far, 3 nominees have been screened by the Senators during Monday’s resumed screening.
