Why Victor Moses May Leave Chelsea In January Transfer Window

Former Nigerian player, Victor Moses, who was part of the team that pushed Antonio Conte’s Chelsea to winning a trophy have been left out of the starting eleven by the club’s new manager, Maurizio Sarri.

Moses’ time in Chelsea however appears drawing closer to an end as the January transfer window is open, and offers have been coming in for the winger.

Moses, who played left wing under Conte has only started one game this season and he last played in October.

English premier League sides like Crystal Palace and Cardiff City, have shown interest for the left wing who might be out of Stamford Bridge during the January transfer window.

According to Goal, Moses is keen on joining his compatriots John Obi Mikel and Odion Ighalo in China.

Joining a Chinese Super League club would undoubtedly result in a pay rise but it would also illustrate just how low his stock has fallen since lifting the FA Cup in May, in what was Conte’s final match in charge of Chelsea.

The arrival of Sarri led to a change in style, thereby switching to a flat back four, thus scrapping the role of a wing back.

This led to a huge challenge with the likes of Eden Hazard, Willian, Pedro and Callum Hudson-Odoi for a starting spot.

“Moses is more suitable for playing wing-back than as a winger or a full-back, I think,” Sarri said in November.

“I don’t know [if he has a future at Chelsea]. He has to improve but his characteristics are a little bit different [to the others].”

Essentially, Moses no longer fits in at Stamford Bridge and he is expected to depart before the end of the month alongside former Arsenal player, Cesc Febregas.
