Usain Bolt Gives Up His Career In Pro Football

Sprint legend Usain Bolt has given up trying to become a professional footballer after unsuccessful attempts in Australia to focus on his career as a businessman, he told reporters on Tuesday.

“The sporting life is over, so I’m looking at different things, I have a lot of things in stock, I’m going to try to touch everything and be a businessman now,” he said on the sidelines of an event in Kingston (Jamaica) on Monday, quoted by Television Jamaica.

“It was a good experience, I really enjoyed being on a team, it was different from the track, it was fun,” said the 32-year-old former athlete. “You live and you learn,” he said of his attempt to become a pro footballer.

The star of the Beijing Olympics, London and Rio had been close to signing a pro contract with an Australian football team, the Central Coast Mariners, with whom he trained several weeks in late summer 2018. But a disagreement over the Jamaican salary had pushed both parties to break off the negotiations.
