Biafra: IPOB Declares Sit-At-Home In Abia Ahead Of Buhari’s Visit

The proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) led by Nnamdi Kanu, has ordered its members in Abia state, southern Nigeria, to observe a sit-at-home on Tuesday ahead of President Muhammadu Buhari‘s visit to Aba, the commercial nerve of the state.

Naija News reports that the secessionist group gave this order in a statement issued on Monday evening by its spokesman, Emma Powerful.

President Buhari is scheduled to visit Aba to commission the 9.5 Megawatts Independent Power Plant, at Ariaria Market in Osisioma Ngwa council area.

The President will also attend the rally of his party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), Nigeria’s ruling party at the Enyimba stadium.

Reacting to the President’s planned visit in a statement sighted by Naija News, IPOB asked its members to be indoors from 6 am till 4 pm on Tuesday.

This online news platform reports that the decision of the group became imperative in order to ensure a total boycott of Buhari’s campaign with the hope that he (Buhari) would meet an empty stadium.

“All family members of IPOB within Aba metropolis are hereby instructed to observe a mini sit at home tomorrow (today) 29th January 2019 in total boycott of the impostor, Jubril AL-Sudani who is slated to be in Aba for an Islamic evil APC rally.

“We must ensure that Jubril meets an empty stadium today because his murderous presence is not welcome in our land. Do not go out for any reason, do not engage in any zoo political discussion as their Boko Haram and Janjaweed army are on standby to kill. Stay indoors from 6 am to 4 pm,” the statement read.

Meanwhile, Naija News learned that security has been beefed-up within the commercial city, especially along Brass junction leading to the Ariaria International market and Aba- Owerri road.

Reacting to the statement, Abia State Police command urged residents of the city to go about their normal duties without fear of molestation.

Naija News reports that the Commissioner of Police in the state, Chris Ezike said this in Aba, noting that the law-abiding citizen should have nothing to fear as Police have the capacity to arrest any person or group found harassing residents.
