1. Senate in rowdy session over President Buhari’s social intervention scheme

Senate plenary on Wednesday got rowdy when senators of the Peoples Democratic Party and the All Progressives Congress clashed over the social investment programmes of the federal government.

It all started when the Minority Leader, Senator Biodun Olujimi alleged that the President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration’s Social Intervention Programme has being politicised.

2. National Assembly sends amended electoral bill to Buhari

The Electoral Act (amendment) Bill has been sent by the National Assembly to President Muhammadu Buhari for his assent.

The bill which was initiated to improve on the country’s electoral process ahead of the 2019 general elections, was not assented by the president on three previous occasions.

3. Shiite leader, El-Zakzaky denied bail again

The embattled leader of the Islamic movement in Nigeria, Sheikh Ibrahim El-zakzaky has again been denied bail by a court in Kaduna.

The IMN leader arrived Kaduna state high court amidst heavy security with Kaduna residents seemingly afraid of any clash between his supporters and security operatives.

4. DSS reportedly arrests APC national chairman, Adams Oshiomhole

National chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Adams Oshiomhole was reportedly arrested and detained on Sunday by the Department of State Services (DSS).

Oshiomhole was reportedly grilled for up to nine hours after some APC governors alleged that he received bribes during the party’s primary elections across the country.

5. Police say attack on Ekweremadu was burglary, not assassination attempt

Investigation into the alleged assassination attempt of Senator Ike Ekweremadu and his family has been launched by the police.

Jimoh Moshood, police spokesman, who spoke on the incident while addressing journalists in Abuja, explained that the incidence was a burglary and not an assassination attempt.

6. Presidency denies Buhari has endorsed N30,000 as new minimum wage

The Presidency on Tuesday said President Muhammadu Buhari’s remarks when he received the report of the Tripartite Committee on the Review of National Minimum Wage was misinterpreted by the media.

A presidential source, who preferred not to be named, said the president did not endorse N30,000 as proposed by the committee as reported by some sections of the media.

7. Buhari group accuses Atiku of paying several million dollars for US visa

Atiku Abubakar, presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party has been accused by the Buhari Media Organisation of paying several millions of dollars to secure an American visa.

It also berated the PDP for wasting funds by going to Dubai to plan its strategies instead of spending such money on the Nigerian economy.

8. Saraki reshuffles Senate committee chairmen, removes Buhari loyalists

Heads of four standing committees in the Senate have been re-deployed to other committees by the President of the Senate, Dr. Bukola Saraki.

Saraki made the announcement at the end of plenary on Wednesday.

9. APC denies knowledge of Oshiomhole’s arrest by DSS

The All Progressives Congress, (APC) has denied knowledge of detention and interrogation of its National Chairman, Adams Oshiomhole, by the Department of State Security, DSS.

Lanre Issa-Onilu, the National Publicity Secretary of the Party, while speaking to the press, describe the ordeal of the National Chairman of the party with the DSS as a rumour, insisting that the APC was has not been officially informed about the matter.

10. IPOB threatens Buhari over Nnamdi Kanu

The Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, has alleged that President Muhammadu Buhari and the APC are planning to shut down the internet.

It declared that this is due to the threats by its leader, Nnamdi Kanu, to expose President Muhammadu Buhari through Radio Biafra, soon.
