1. Resident Doctors Suspend Nationwide Strike
The National Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) on Saturday suspended it’s 10 days old nationwide strike.
The National President of the Association, Dr Uyilawa Okhuaihesuyi told Vanguard that the strike was suspended due to their responsibility to Nigerians and the fact that the Federal government has met some of their demands.
According to him, the strike was suspended after series of long hours of meetings with various stakeholders in the health sector.
2. Five Killed, Women Abducted As Boko Haram Attacks Adamawa Community
Members of the dreaded Boko Haram sect have attacked a community in Adamawa State killing five people and abducting an unspecified number of women.
It was gathered that the insurgent group also destroyed houses and other property and made away with residents’ belongings.
A source around the area, Innocent Geoffrey, told Daily Post that the attackers stormed Kwapre, a village in the Hong Local Government Area of Northern Adamawa on Friday evening, shooting randomly and picking up the women.
According to him, the gunmen were first thought to be herdsmen out for vengeance attack but later manifested their Boko Haram tendency, abducting female residents on sight.
3. It’s Easier For Me To Meet Bandits Than President Buhari – Gumi
Renowned Islamic cleric, Sheik Ahmad Gumi has declared that it is easy for him to meet with bandits than to meet with President Muhammadu Buhari.
Gumi was quoted to have made the submission by the spokesman of Northern Elders’ Forum, Dr. Hakeem Baba-Ahmed.
According to him, the cleric said this while speaking on insecurity in Nigeria at a recent stakeholder’s summit where he noted that he has made several efforts to meet with the President to discuss the country’s security situation but all has been futile.
4. Buhari Minister Reveals Why Gunmen Overpowered Police In Imo Attacks
The Muhammadu Buhari-led government has revealed that gunmen overpowered the Imo State Police Command men because they “came with all the arsenals at their disposal” and “in large numbers”.
Naija News reports that this was made known by the Minister of Police Affairs, Mohammad Dingyadi.
Dingyadi stated this on Friday while featuring on Channels Television’s ‘Politics Today’ programme.
Gunmen on Monday attacked the Owerri Correctional Centre and freed over 1,800 inmates. The attackers also razed the Imo State Police Command headquarters in Owerri and burnt all the vehicles parked at the command headquarters.
5. IPOB, OPC Are Terrorist Groups Like Boko Haram – Former Chief Of Army Staff
A former Chief of Army Staff in Nigeria, Lieutenant General Abdulrahman Dambazau (rtd) has designated the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and Odua People’s Congress (OPC) as terrorist organizations.
According to him, both groups are not different from the Boko Haram terrorist group as they have been attacking innocent citizens and attempting to pitch the North against the South.
The former army chief further accused IPOB and OPC of attempts to bring about another civil war in the country and a possible break up of Nigeria based on ethnic conflicts they are sponsoring.
6. OPC Attacks Dambazau For Likening Group, IPOB To Boko Haram
The O’odua Peoples Congress (OPC) has berated former Chief of Army Staff and Ex-Minister of Interior, Lt. Gen. Abdurahman Dambazau for likening the group and IPOB to Boko Haram.
Naija News reports that Dambazau had said both groups are not different from the Boko Haram terrorist group as they have been attacking innocent citizens and attempting to pitch the North against the South.

7. Kaduna: What I Would Do If Bandits Abducted My Son – El-Rufai
Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State has said even if his son is kidnapped, he would rather pray for him to make heaven than to pay a ransom.
Speaking in a radio chat on Friday, the Kaduna governor restated his decision never to pay ransom to any bandit.
While insisting that his government would not engage in negotiation with bandits troubling the state, El-Rufai revealed that he had warned his family members to be careful to avoid being abducted.
8. Patience Jonathan: How I Ended Negative Power Play Around First Lady – Aisha Buhari
The wife of President Muhammadu Buhari, Aisha, has narrated how she ended negative power play in the office of first lady after she took over from Patience Jonathan in 2015.
In her biography written by Daji Sani, a presidential aide, and titled, ‘Aisha Buhari: Being different’, Aisha said the power play around the first lady institution before her time created a negative impression of how “dominating” it was.
Recall that during the administration of former President Goodluck Jonathan from 2011 to 2015, his wife, Patience was influential just as she was controversial.
9. Kidnapped Imo Monarch, Others Regain Freedom
The traditional ruler of Umueze Nguru community in Aboh Mbaise Local Government Area of Imo State, Eze Charles Iroegbu, his cabinet chiefs, and palace guards have been released.
Naija News learned that the monarch, his five cabinet chiefs, and two palace guards regained their freedom on Saturday, three days after their abduction.
Recall that Iroeugbu, owner and Chief Executive Officer of All States Mass Transit, alongside seven others were kidnapped after attending a traditional wedding ceremony in the Ehime Mbano LGA of the state on Wednesday.
10. Kenya’s Emmanuel Naibei Wins Lagos Marathon (Photos)
Kenya’s athlete, Emmanuel Naibei has won the 2021 Access Bank Lagos City Marathon for the male category.
Naibei won the 42km race which started at the traditional starting point, National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos under strict COVID-19 guidelines.
