Omokri Reacts To Killing Of ESN Leader, Ikonso

Former Nigeria presidential aide, Reno Omokri has reacted to the killing of Ikonso, the leader of the Eastern Security Network (ESN).

Naija News had reported earlier that a joint operation on Saturday morning between operatives of the Nigeria Police Force and their counterparts from the Nigerian Army and Department of State Services (DSS), resulted in the killing of the suspected insurgent attacking Imo and other southeast states.

The leader of the insurgents, identified as Commander Ikonso was killed during the gun battle between security operatives and the insurgents while six of his fighters were also arrested

Naija News understands that Ikonso's killing has raised a barrage of reactions from members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and all supporters of the Biafraland at home and abroad.

Reacting also to Ikonso's killing by the Nigerian security agency, Omokri in a post on his verified Twitter account on Sunday, April 25, challenged the competence of the Nigerian security agencies towards eliminating the leader of the Boko Haram terrorist sect, Abubakar Shekau.

The award-winning book writer questioned why the same force the security agencies used to crush Ikonso could not be used to bring down leaders of insurgent groups in the Northern region of Nigeria.

"Can't Nigeria's Army also take out leaders of Boko Haram, bandits and killer herdsmen troubling Nigeria, the same way they took out alleged ESN leader, Ikonso? Or, are they (security agencies) only strong when it comes to ESN, and weak when it comes to Boko Haram, bandits and herdsmen?" Omokri asked.

Meanwhile, IPOB has since threatened that the Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma, will "pay dearly" for the killing of its commander.

The spokesman of the group, Emma Powerful, in a statement on Saturday said, "The killing of the heroic innocent Biafrans protecting our communities and towns from Fulani terrorists herdsmen masquerading as cattle herders in cold blood is very painful."

The statement added, "The Supreme Court Administrator of Imo State Hope Uzodinma and all those who had a hand in this wickedness will pay dearly.
