Boko Haram/ISWAP Terrorists Flee As Troops Strike In Damasak

Boko Haram

Troops of the Nigerian military and Nigerian Airforce on Saturday engaged Boko Haram terrorists in Damasak, the headquarters of Mobbar Local Government Area of Borno State.

According to PRNigeria, some of the terrorists were suspected to be on a looting spree as they stormed warehouses of international humanitarian agencies in their gun trucks.

An intelligence officer said some of the terrorists were fleeing as they saw military aircraft.

“The good news is the NAF aircraft is currently dropping bombs on the terrorists’ targets while ground troops have stationed themselves in strategic locations exchanging fire,” the source added.

Last month, March 2021, NAF helicopters had killed dozens ISWAP/Boko Haram Fighters when they attacked the same town. At least four gun trucks were also destroyed.

Naija News had earlier reported that Boko Haram set fire to a UN office and to at least three other international charity organisations contiguous to the UN facility.

A source that narrated the incident said, “The terrorists came into the town in gun trucks. They first embarked on a looting spree. They carted away aid supplies meant for the Internally Displaced Persons before they set fire to the UN hub in the town and three other buildings belonging to other aid organisations.”

A military source that confirmed the incident said the troops were fighting hard to ensure that the terrorists did not overrun the town.
