Coronavirus: NCDC Confirms 1,634 New COVID-19 Cases In Nigeria

The Nigeria Center for Disease Control (NCDC) on Tuesday evening, 2nd February 2021, confirmed 1,634 new cases of Coronavirus disease infection in Nigeria.

The new cases of COVID-19 infection were confirmed via a statement on the official Twitter handle of the health agency.

This brings the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Nigeria to 133,552 which includes 107,551 discharged cases and 1,613 deaths.

Below is the breakdown of the latest cases according to states with Lagos State having the highest number of cases followed by Anambra State.

Meanwhile, the Federal Government has called on Nigerians to disregard conspiracy theories associated with coronavirus (COVID-19) vaccines.

Recall that Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi has consistently rubbished the existence of the disease while calling on people not to receive the COVID-19 vaccine.

The governor does not wear a face mask except when visiting President Muhammadu Buhari.

Speaking on Tuesday during the inauguration of the state house clinic COVID-19 isolation centre, secretary to the government of the federation (SGF), Boss Mustapha said nobody will spend billions to kill Africans.

Mustapha, who is the chairman of the presidential task force on COVID-19, said the COVID-19 vaccines are safe, effective and beneficial.
