1. Gunmen Abduct Edo Head of Service Okungbowa

Unknown gunmen on Saturday abducted the Edo State Head of Service, Anthony Okungbowa, along Oza Road, in Orhiomwon Local Government Area of the state.

Naija News reports that the gunmen, suspected to be kidnappers, also reportedly killed Okungbowa’s driver.

It was gathered that the Head of Service was heading to Benin, the Edo State capital after attending a social event organized by a politician in Orhionmwon Local Government Area.

2. Four Killed As Explosion Rocks Borno

Four people have died following an explosion by a Boko Haram suicide bomber in Konduga town, Borno State.

Naija News reports that Konduga, about 38 kilometres (24 miles) from the regional capital Maiduguri.

Militia and humanitarian sources disclosed told AFP on Saturday that the explosion was caused when a teenage girl killed blew herself up in a crowd.

3. How Masari, Matawalle Caused Kankara Schoolboys Abduction – Ex-DSS Director

A former Director of the Department of State Services (DSS), Mike Ejiofor, has blamed the Governors of Katsina and Zamfara, Aminu Masari and Bello Matawalle, for the abduction of the Kankara schoolboys.

In an interview on Channels Television‘s programme, Sunrise Daily, Ejiofor accused the governors of laying the foundation for kidnapping and banditry.

According to the former DSS boss, negotiating with bandits in their state laid the foundation for the present security crisis rocking Zamfara and Katsina.

4. Miyetti Allah Denies Negotiating Kankara Schoolboys Release

Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association (MACBAN) has debunked claims that it helped in negotiating the release of students of Government Science Secondary School, Kankara, Katsina State.

Naija News had earlier reported that Zamfara State Governor, Bello Matawalle, while speaking with Daily Nigerian, disclosed that the state consulted MACBAN and some repentant bandits to negotiate the schoolboys’ release.

5. Boko Haram Attack Travelers On Damaturu-Maiduguri Road, Abduct 35

Boko Haram insurgents on Friday attacked travelers along the Damaturu-Maiduguri road, abducting at least 35 commuters.

The insurgents, who reportedly appeared in military uniforms, attacked a large convoy of commuters near Garin Kuturu in Jakana at about 5 pm on Friday.

6. Fuel Tanker Explodes On Otedola Bridge Of Lagos-Ibadan Expressway (Video)

A fuel tanker explosion occurred on Saturday evening on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway along the Otedola bridge.

The explosion occurred inside the ditch when descending into Otedola Bridge near Otedola Estate on the outbound service lane of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

7. COVID-19: Sanwo-Olu Bans Parties, Carnivals In Lagos, Night Clubs To Remain Shut

The Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has placed a ban on all forms of parties and carnivals as the state experience a second-wave of coronavirus (COVID-19).

The governor, who has tested positive for COVID-19, also imposed a curfew from midnight to 4am daily.

Sanwo-Olu ordered night clubs to remain closed till further notice, stressing that there was a need for residents of the Lagos State to wear their facemask.

8. FULL LIST: Police Commission Names Four New DIGs, 13 AIGs, 23 CPs, Others

The Police Service Commission (PSC) has promoted three Assistant Inspectors General of Police (AIG) and one Commissioner to Deputy Inspectors General of Police (DIG).

Naija News reports that the officers were promoted during the PSC’s 10th plenary meeting.

The newly-promoted DIGs who are expected to represent their geo-political zones in the police management team are AIG Dan Mallam Mohammed, AIG Usman Alkali Baba, AIG David Oyebanji Folawiyo and CP Joseph Egbunike.

9. Kankara Students Abduction, Release, Drama Of The Year – Ohanaeze

Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council, on Friday, described the abduction and release of students of Government Science Secondary School, Kankara, Kastina State as drama of the year.

The President-General of the group, Okechukwu Isiguzoro wondered the reason and idea behind the drama.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has inaugurated its engagement committee on the proposed amendment to the Electoral Act and the 1999 Constitution (as amended).
