The Lagos State government has disclosed that Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu is responding well to treatment after testing positive for COVID-19.
The State Commissioner for Health, Professor Akin Abayomi gave the update in a statement on Sunday evening where he added that the Governor is in high spirits.
The Governor appreciates the concern and good wishes of the people, Abayomi revealed in his tweet.
“Governor of Lagos, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, is responding well to COVID-19 home-based care and treatment. He is in high spirit and very appreciative of all your prayers and well wishes.
“I will be keeping the public informed regularly of Mr Governor’s recovery and wellbeing,” the Commissioner stated.
It will be recalled Sanwo-Olu proceeded on self-isolation after one of his close aides tested positive for COVID-19. The Governor was later confirmed to have tested positive to the virus himself following the release of his own test result.

The federal government has also warned that Nigeria may have entered the second phase of the COVID-19 infection even as it put all COVID-19 isolation centers nationwide on a re-opening alert over the recent increases in daily records of Coronavirus infection.
The latest figures by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has confirmed six-hundred and seventeen new cases of coronavirus (COVID-19) in the country.
Naija News reports that the agency made this known in a post on their Twitter page on Saturday night.
