Coronavirus: NCDC Confirms 501 New COVID-19 Cases In Nigeria

The Nigeria Center for Disease Control (NCDC) on Sunday evening, 20th December 2020, confirmed 501 new cases of Coronavirus disease infection in Nigeria.

The new cases of COVID-19 infection were confirmed via a statement on the official Twitter handle of the health agency.

This brings the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Nigeria to 78,434 which includes 68,303 discharged cases and 1,221.

Below is the breakdown of the latest cases according to states with Lagos State having the highest number of cases, followed by Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory.

Meanwhile, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has urged the federal government to immediately ban flights between Nigeria and the United Kingdom.

Atiku noted in a statement on Sunday that the action has become necessary in view of the health hazards that may result if the new coronavirus strain reported in the UK is imported into Nigeria.
