Senator James Udoedehe, secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee (CECPC), has denied nursing governorship ambition.
Naija News reports that Udoedehe, at a press conference recently, allegedly said he was eyeing the governorship ticket of the party for the 2023 contest.
But in a statement on Wednesday, Senator Udoedehe stated that he was not plotting to pick the governorship ticket of the party for Akwa Ibom state ahead of the 2023 general elections.
According to the former lawmaker, the media had quoted him out of context.
He urged APC stakeholders in the state to rally together to build the party rather than divide it with 2023 ambition.
“What we are asking from all APC stakeholders in Akwa Ibom State is that we all need to come together to build APC in our state and in the entire South-south geopolitical zone,” Udoedehe said.
“It is only when we are firmly rooted on the ground that the platform becomes viable for individual aspirations. Let’s build the party before we talk of 2023.”
