Governor Wike Imposes Curfew In Rivers After Eight Persons Were Killed

Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike has declared a 24-hour state of emergency in some local government areas due to the insurgency caused by hoodlums hiding under the guise of the #ENDSARS protests in the state.

The law will apply to Oyigbo and other parts of Obio-Akpor and Port Harcourt counties.

Governor Wike held a press conference and declared a state of emergency in some areas including Oyigbo Local Government Area of ​​the state.

He said the law has been extended to Mile 1, Mile 2, Emenike, Ikowu and Iloaubuchi areas of Port Harcourt Local Government Area of ​​the state.

The governor said the enactment of the law was necessary to checkmate the miscreants hiding under the #ENDSARS protests to wreak havoc.

Governor Wike revealed that some of the miscreants destroyed the police station and courts in Oyigbo Local Government Area.

The governor stated: “Earlier today (yesterday), some hoodlums attacked and destroyed police stations and court buildings in Oyigbo Local Government Area of the state. Another set of hooligans were also on a rampage at the Ikokwu spares market, disturbing public peace and damaging property.”
