The Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, has debunked reports that its official website was been breached and shut down on Friday, October 16.
In a press release signed by Osita Nwanisobi, the Ag. Director, Corporate Communications of which copy was made available to newsmen said its website is secure, contrary to news on social media news that the CBN, www.cbn.gov.ng has been hacked by Anonymous, an International group of hackers.
The CBN categorically stated in the letter dated October 16 that its website is safe and secure.
The bank announced to Nigerians and all its stakeholders that the CBN website is adequately protected and that there is no cause for alarm. CBN further urged citizens and all members of the online community to distance themselves from false reports aimed at damaging the image the Central Bank of Nigeria and the country at large.
