Didier Drogba is officially a candidate for the presidency of the Ivorian Football Federation. After filing records on Saturday 1st August 2020, his application has been validated.
Didier Drogba remains in the race for the elections to the IFF on September 5, 2020. The reason: his file containing controversial sponsorships, in particular that of the dissidents of the AMAFCI (association of referees) was validated this Saturday, August 8, 2020 by the electoral commission.
“We don’t want to cause harm to one side or another. We want to be correct and this is what made us accept in a consensual way double or triple sponsorships, ” reassured a member of the Electoral Commission relayed by Abidjan Sports.
According to him, there is even a lady, president of the club, who gave an unsigned sponsorship. “But all of that, we accepted. We are going to make good decisions. Whoever considers that he has been wronged can always go before the Appeals Committee , ” he explained.
With this validation, the former captain of the Elephants Didier Drogba is now one step away from his dream of becoming the next president of the Ivorian Football Federation.
