The Ondo State Deputy Governor, Agboola Ajayi has debunked the reports that he plans to stage protests in Akure and Abuja with the aim to compel Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu to hand over power to him.
Speaking via press a press release made available to Naija News through his Cheif Press Secretary, Tope Okeowo, Ajayi said the wild allegation is the figment of the imagination of a drowning government.
He also described the allegation by Governor Rotimi Akeredolu led Administration as not only untrue but reckless and provocative as it represents an orchestrated attempt by Akeredolu’s government to portray the deputy governor as a man desperate for power at all cost.
A government which deliberately twisted the interpretation of Section 190(2) of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended) to mean that the Deputy Governor was demanding for the handover of power to him can do anything to whip up the sentiment and remain relevant.
However, the political fight between the embattled deputy governor and his boss, Akeredolu has dramatically become more intense as there are tendencies that the deputy Governor might be impeached later today.
Naija News learnt that the Clerk of the Assembly, Mr Bode Adeyelu had in a short message sent to the legislators directed them to ensure compliance with the directive given by the Speaker, Bamidele Oleyelogun.
