Abike Dabiri-Erewa, the Chairman of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), on Thursday noted that criminal activities do not define who we are as Nigerians.
Dabiri-Erewa made this claim while condemning the boldness Hushpuppi, also known as Ramon Abass had to commit crimes and still show-off his properties.
Recall that Naija News had earlier reported that Dubai Police Force in the United Arab Emirates arrested the Nigerian over criminal activities and for flaunting his luxurious lifestyle on Instagram.
The Police in a statement released noted that the Nigerian was apprehended alongside 12 others and they discovered that fraud amounting to 1.6 billion dirhams (N168bn) had been perpetrated by the gang.
Dabiri-Erewa while reacting to the development on Thursday noted that the fraud perpetrated by Hushpuppi and his gang members has damaged the image of Nigeria, she called for the law to take its course.
She took to her Twitter account and wrote: “Committing a crime and still having the audacity to show off. Ramoni Igbalode aka Hushpuppi. This is really denting to our image as a people, but as I always say, fraud does not represent who we are as Nigerians. Hardworking. dedicated, committed.”
“Whether your name is Ramoni Igbalode or Invictus Obi, crime is a crime. The law must take its course. To those countries, another Nigerian has committed a crime. While we will call out those who soil our image, we will always celebrate the millions of Nigerians making us proud.”
