A branch of First Bank of Nigeria located in Marina, Lagos State has asked all its staffs to go on self-isolation following a report that one of its staff has tested positive for COVID-19 disease.
The development was contained in a statement made available to newsmen on Tuesday, June 16 by the Nigerian financial institution.
Naija News learnt that the bank branch commenced and disinfection on its entire vicinity, while it also sent out its staffs to observe self-isolation as recommended by the government and Nigeria Centre for Disease Contro, NCDC.
Part of the bank statement reads, “We have just confirmed that one of our staff working in FirstBank, Marina branch has tested positive to COVID-19 on 15 June 2020,”
It added, “In line with the bank’s COVID-19 emergency response plan, we have immediately activated our established incident management protocols”.
The bank revealed further that it “swung to action and have thoroughly disinfected the branch and the entire vicinity overnight”.
However, First Bank ensures its readiness to protect the life of its staff, customers and as well as host communities. Adding that a fresh set of individuals have been redeployed to the branch, supporting their engagement with brand new personal protection kits and equipment.
Again, it noted that staffs whose COVID-19 samples are under examination will not be returning to their duties until medically proven to be free from the dreadful virus.
The statement added, “The impact of COVID-19 has become the new norm and as we learn to live and deal with it.
“Swift, effective and decisive response in dealing with the challenges as they arise to ensure minimal disruption to service is critical as our new reality”.
Meanwhile, the Federal Government has expressed its concern over carelessness from citizens following the relaxation/lifting of lockdown in various states in the country.
