Your Speech Is Empty, We Are So Disappointed – PDP Blast Buhari

Kola Ologbondiyan, the spokesperson to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has rubbished the nationwide broadcast which saw President Muhammadu Buhari addressed the nation on Coronavirus (COVID-19) on Monday night.

According to Kola, the speech delivered by the president has no positive impact on the challenge at hand, describing it as horrific.

Naija News reports that President Muhammadu Buhari on April 27 addressed Nigerians on COVID-19 pandemic in a nationwide broadcast.

However, PDP in the statement by its spokesman expressed their disappointment over President Buhari’s speech, noting that it profers no solution to what the nation is passing through now.

The party also noted that Buhari’s administration has failed to provide post lockdown stimulus to Nigerians in the private sector.

The party’s statement reads; “The PDP is appalled that President Buhari, in his Monday’s COVID-19 address, again, failed to offer decisive solutions to protect Nigerians from the deadly pandemic.

“We express disappointment that President Buhari did not offer any post lockdown stimulus to assist Nigerians in the private sector whose businesses had been crippled by the lockdown and are now faced with the burden of workers’ salaries and business refinancing.”

“apart from the elementary lockdown and failed palliative showboating, President Buhari did not offer a decisive solution regarding the production of drugs, testing kits and management of equipment to safeguard Nigerians, despite the huge resources at the disposal of his administration.”

The party added, “Buhari did not address the demands by Nigerians to end his administration’s political parochialism and engage competent hands, including indigenous researchers, equipment manufacturers, pharmaceutical, medical as well as virology experts to infuse homegrown therapeutic solutions in the overall effort.”

Meanwhile, the Nigerian Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) on Monday evening confirmed 64 new cases of coronavirus infection in Nigeria.

This brings the total number of cases in the country to 1337.
