Edo State Government has commissioned a 30-bed facility built by a private company, Peculiar Ultimate Concerns Ltd, to support the state government to curtail the spread of the Covid-19 Pandemic.

Governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki, who inaugurated the facility, thanked the donor company for completing the project in a record time of 12 days.
According to Obaseki, represented by his Deputy, Mr Philip Shaibu, this facility is executed as part of the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility and completed in 12 days.

“It was built for free while the Edo government furnished the facility with world-class medical equipment and well-trained health workers to manage the patients that will be brought to the centre.
I want to assure Edo people that we are on top of the situation and have prepared for the worse but pray that the worst will not come.

“We want to salute our healthcare workers, who are the true heroes, leaving their families to work in the frontline and ensuring those affected by the disease get well,” he said.

Meanwhile, An Uselu Mobile Court in Benin has sentenced 29 people to community service for violating the curfew order imposed by Edo Government to curtail COVID-19 spread.

Prosecution counsel, Mr Agbokhaode Ayo, said that the 29 people, who were apprehended at the New Benin axis, pleaded guity.
