Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje has praised the state’s anti-graft agency for their good performance over the years, acknowledging that the agency’s leadership did greatly in the discharge of duties and hence deserves another turn.
Governor Ganduje on Wednesday, April 22 in a statement delivered through his Chief Press Secretary, Abba Anwar, extends the duration of Alhaji Muhuyi Rimingado, as the Executive Chairman of the Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission, Naija News understands.
Rimingado who had been the head of the agency for years now was on Wednesday re-appointed for a second term in office.
The Kano State governor noted that Rimingado’s second term in office for a period of five years will take effect as from May 2020 after expiration of his first tenure.
He said, ‘’As the tenure comes to an end next month and by virtue of the Law establishing the Commission, this development of tenure extension, makes his tenure abridged leaving no vacuum in between.
“It is important to know that the Chairman was able to steer the Commission in the right direction, to become a subnational example of both Ombudsman and anti-corruption agency,” he said.
According to him, “Rimingado was instrumental to reshaping and redirecting the state anti-graft body to be more visible and people-centred.”
He added that the Commission had performed wonderfully well, most especially in the areas of dispute settlement, protection of human rights and recoveries of funds, among others.
He added, “The government would continue with its policy of zero interference with the Commission’s activities under its law as clearly manifested in its 5-years performance under his administration.”
Ganduje, however, urged Rimingado to keep up with the good work and never relent in the discharge of his duties even more than before for the good benefit of Kano State.
