COVID-19: No Fresh Cases Of Coronavirus In Kano State – Government Declares

Kano

The Kano State government has debunked rumours that an additional seven new cases of coronavirus (COVID-19) have been recorded in the state.

It said the social media post on the fresh cases is fake and the handwork of fraudsters trying to take advantage of the situation.

The State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Aminu Ibrahim Tsanyawa in a telephone chat with Daily Trust said the fake post was done by a clone page of the state Ministry of Health yesterday.

According to him, “the ministry did not post such information on its twitter handle nor issue any release to that effect.

Meanwhile, Naija News reports Governor Umar Ganduje has announced that the state would go on lockdown starting from Thursday, April 16, 2020, as a means to combat the spread of the global pandemic.

The Kano State governor made the disclosure in the evening hour of Tuesday while speaking in a meeting at the Government House with some Islamic scholars in the state.

Ganduje said: “Following the outbreak of this disease, COVID-19 in Kano State and the subsequent cases we recorded, Kano State Government has resolved to lock down the state for a duration of seven days, starting from Thursday, April 16.”

“We want to, however, call on the scholars that Kano residents should start purchasing foodstuffs, as that would help curtail the spread of the disease in the state.”

He added, “The lockdown would start at 10 p.m, no more markets, no more gatherings, and mosques.”
