Atiku’s Camp Mocks Buhari For Pardoning Enahoro ‘Again’

Tribunal set to deliver judgement in Atiku vs Buhari case

Paul Ibe, the media aide to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has mocked the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari for granting pardon to the late Anthony Enahoro.

He noted that Enahoro had earlier been granted presidential pardon during the regime of Gen. Yakubu Gowon in 1966.

Naija News recalls Enahoro was listed as one of those granted presidential amnesty as disclosed at a press briefing on Thursday, April 9, by the Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola.

However, Paul Ibe has hinted that the federal government goofed in its decision as Enahoro, a foremost journalist, activist and nationalist had been previously pardoned by the government.

His pardon was gazetted on August 12, 1966, after it was signed by the Head of State, Lt. Colonel Yakubu Gowon, on August 2, same year.

He was pardoned alongside Chief Obafemi Awolowo, Lateef Kayode Jakande, Michael Adedapo Omisade, Sunday Ebietome, Effiong Okon Eyo and Samuel Akanbi Onitiri.

Ibe who posted the Gazette on Twitter, wrote, “How many times will Chief Anthony Enahoro be pardoned? He was pardoned by Gen. Yakubu Gowon as confirmed by this Gazette.

“Not surprised though because this is in line with the incompetence of this administration in which dead people had been appointed into positions.”
