Just In: Coronavirus Cases Identified in Nigeria States (Full List)

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has revealed that 23 suspected cases of Coronavirus (COVID-19) have been identified in some Nigerian states.

Naija News recalls that the Federal Ministry of Health had last week confirmed the first case of the Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in Lagos, Nigeria’s commercial city.

The Minister of Health, Dr Osagie Ehanire, confirmed the case in a statement issued in the early hours of Friday, February 28, 2020, saying that the case involves an Italian citizen who works in Nigeria and just returned from Milan, Italy on the 25th of February 2020.

The virus has since been confirmed in seven African countries and at least 97 countries globally.

In a chat with NAN on Sunday, The Director-General of NCDC, Dr Chikwe Ihekweazu, said the states with suspected Coronavirus cases are Edo, Lagos, Ogun, Kano and Abuja and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

According to the NCDC boss, a total of 219 contacts were identified, including contacts from hotel, workplace and healthcare workers.

“No new contacts have been reported in Lagos and Ogun states,” Ihekweazu stressed.

He added that the confirmed case was clinically stable at the designated treatment facility for COVID-19 at the Infectious Disease Hospital (IDH) Yaba, Lagos.
