Just In: Pipeline Explosion Hit Imo Community

Palpable tension has gripped residents  Etekwuru community in Ohaji Egbema local government area of Imo State as a pipeline explosion rocked the area in the early hours of Tuesday.

The explosion was said to have occurred from a ruptured pipeline caused by illegal oil bunkering activities by some hoodlums in the community.

According to the Public Relations Officer of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC), Imo State Command, Chimeziri Lowell who confirmed the drastic incident a notable news platform said the State Commandant of the NSCDC, Raji Ibrahim and his team, are on their way to the scene for an on-the-spot assessment of the incident.

The number and quantity of casualties are yet unknown. Etekwuru is one of the oil-producing communities located in Imo State.

However, the reoccurrence of pipeline Vandalism has led to the death of thousands of Nigerians and residents of several communities of  oil-producing state.
