The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) will on Saturday, 25th January 2019 (today), conduct re-run elections in eleven states of the federation. The re-run election consists of 28 Federal and State Constituencies broken down into One (1) Senatorial District, Twelve (12) House of Representatives and Fifteen (15) State Assemblies.

Prophet Isaac Itodo, the General Overseer of the Ark of Covenant Total Life Ministries, says God is very angry with the leadership of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN). Naija News reports that Prophet Itodo said God is angry with CAN leadership because it has been enmeshed in playing politics and fraternizing with political opponents of the present administration in heating the polity in Nigeria at the detriment of uniting the body of Christ in Nigeria.

The Federal Government has revealed her plan to borrow N2 trillion from the current N10 trillion pension funds to finance the development of infrastructure. Naija News learnt that this was disclosed at the National Economic Council (NEC) meeting presided over by the Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo, on Thursday in Abuja.

The Ondo State Governor and Chairman of the Southwest Governors, Rotimi Akeredolu, has revealed what was agreed between governors and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo on Amotekun. Naija News had reported the Federal Government led by President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday reached an agreement with South West Governors on Operation Amotekun, a Western Nigeria Security Network.

7. CBN Retains MPR At 13.5%
The Central bank of Nigeria has voted that monetary policy rate, which measures interest rate to retain its status quo at 13.5 % for the first quarter of the year. Naija News reports that the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Mr. Godwin Emefiele who disclosed this decision today during a press conference at the end of a two-day MPC meeting revealed that the committee unanimously also voted to raise the Cash Reserve Ratio by 500 basis points from 22.5% to 27.5%.
8. APC Withdraws From Akwa-Ibom Rerun Elections
The All Progressives Congress (APC) and its candidate Senator Godswill Akpabio has withdrawn from the rerun elections in Essien Udim LGA of Akwa Ibom state. In a press conference on Friday at the party’s secretariat in Uyo, the state Chairman of the party, Mr Ini Okopido, stated that the APC was withdrawing due to a perceived bias of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in the state.
