The former governor of Abia State, Orji Uzor Kalu, has been convicted on Thursday by the Federal High Court in Lagos, of N7.65bn fraud.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission had accused the senator representing Abia North Senatorial District of N7.65bn fraud charges.

Recall that the Court of Appeal on April, 25 okayed the dismissal of the no-case submission filed by a former Abia State Governor, Orji Uzor Kalu, in response to the N7.65bn fraud charges filed against him by the EFCC.

Justice Mohammed Idris was expected to deliver judgement on December 2 but had to adjourn the case to today (Dec 5) because he was attending to election-related cases.

Other convicted are his firm, Slok Nigeria Limited and Udeh Udeogu, who was Director of Finance and Accounts at the Abia State Government House during Kalu’s tenure as governor.
