The leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, has berated officials of the Department of State Services (DSS) over the maltreatment of Omoyele Sowore, the convener of RevolutionNow Movement.
Naija News reports that the IPOB leader berated the secret police in a tweet on the micro-blogging site, Twitter, during the week.
This online news platform had reported earlier that the DSS released Sowore on Thursday night after spending 124 days in detention.
Sowore’s release followed a court ruling ordering DSS to release him in the next 24 hours.
However, on Friday morning, the secret police re-arrested Sowore in the premises of the Federal High court in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital and reportedly took the activist to the DSS headquarters.
Apparently displeased with the development, Kanu condemned the secret police, adding that the actions of the DSS is the reason he (Kanu) wants Biafra.
The IPOB leader tweeted: “Nigeria’s secret police DSS manhandling Sowore before abducting him in court today in full view of the presiding judge.
“Thankfully the world can now see what a calamitous mess Nigeria has become and why we want Biafra. Now they know Nigeria is a failed state,” Kanu added.
