Zamfara: Lawmakers Set To Enact Death Penalty On Kidnapping, Banditry

The persisting banditry attack and kidnapping in Zamfara State have prompted the state House of Assembly, to begin a serious deliberation on a bill to perfectly ensure that the state is devoid of banditry and kidnapping as they become capital offences.

According to the report, the executive bill was presented at the plenary by the House Leader, Alhaji Faruk Dosara.

Dosara charged the lawmakers to accelerate the passage of the bill an effort that will bring about stability in the state.

He noted that the bill came at the time when Governor Bello Matawalle’s administration is working on providing a lasting solution to the security challenges in the state.

The lawmaker representing Tsafe west, Aliyu Danjibga, who seconded the motion, charged his colleagues to accept the bill.

Danjibga further stated that the bill was in accordance with the Assembly’s commitment to ensure relative peace, harmony and stability in the state.

The Speaker of the House, Hon. Nasiru Magarya, while reacting to the bill directed the Clerk of the House, Alhaji Abdullahi Bayero to present copies of the bill to all the members for scrutiny.
