A team of experts have re-captured a lion that escaped from a zoo in Kano State, the Managing Director of Kano Zoological Garden, Alhaji Usman Gwadabe, has announced.
Naija News reports that residents in Kano city area spent the night in fear after news of the lion’s escape from the Zoological Garden spread last night.
The lion, which was captured around the city area was said to have behaved itself without attacking or trying to cause havoc.
Gwadabe said the lion has been taken back to the zoo and residents can now have some reliefs to go about their normal businesses.
It was gathered that the ever-busy zoo with shops, filling stations, including the popular Ado Bayero Shopping Mall were padlocked with nobody around the place.
The media aide to Governor Abdullahi Ganduje, Salihu Tanko Yakasai, in a post on Twitter on Saturday had warned residents living around the zoo to be vigilant and careful.
The post read: “It is true that a Lion in Kano Zoo has escaped and the authorities are doing everything humanly possible to capture it.
“So far, there is no cause for alarm as the lion is still within the premises of the Kano Zoo, but those living within the area are advised to be vigilant.”
